End of the year Vision 2020
Is coming to the end of the year 2009, I still vividly remember that not too long ago or should I say 10 years ago that humankind was sort of in panic mode when Y2k approaching but luckily everything turns out well and no major data breakdown or chaotic situation. How this 10 years simply fly away , I mean even my mum had pass away for like 20 years already. At times it can cause anxiety but most of the time it causes excitements because as time pass we know that we experienced things and at the same time anticipating new events and new experience in the coming times.
As the clock struck 12 this 31s December 2009 midnight to mark a beginning of the new year the biggest question remain unanswered inĀ my mind was can Malaysia achieve Vision 2020 in 10 years time ? The Vision 2020 was the brain child of our former longest serving Prime Minister Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohammad in 1991 ,Malaysian had walked through 2/3 of the journey but yet somehow just somehow the distant to the finishing line look more than 1/3 of the whole journey initially planned.
Our current Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said that in order for Malaysia to achieve Vision 2020 we would need to reach the economic growth of 8% for the next 10 years if we achieve growth of less than 8%, lets say growth at 6% we will only be able to reach the the status of developed country in the year 2030. So what happen if our country economic growth is even lower than 6% , will we only achieve the status of developed country by 2050 ? No offence to anyone but if this continue I think sooner or later even Timor Leste will overtake us to be a developed nation just like what happened to our football national team.
I am no expert in economics, I am no expert in political arena, I am no expert in World stuff but I do believe in COMMON SENSE. I still remember a friend of my used to tell me that “COMMON SENSE ARE NOT COMMONLY FOUND“.
So what does my COMMON SENSE tells me,
1.) In order to be a developed country we need create healthy competitions among ourselves, healthy competitions bring out the best of everyone including those of inferior genes. You will be suprise how healthy competitions can push the economic growth of the country.
2.) NEVER allow monopoly of any corporations in any sector, we do not welcome certain corporations raise their prices as they please because they know we need them. We need to have options to choose the best deal for ourselves.
3.) Be money wise, we do not require certain people spend Millions of ringgit to build a building we hardly use and even worst it collapsed before we got a chance to make full use of it. I still cant believe a brand new stadium can just collapsed in less than 2 years. We also do not need people who spend RM15k on a laptop that retail for Rm7k when a laptop that cost RM4k can do the same thing. The money can be used elsewhere like giving out as loans to people starting up business or improving our healthcare.
4.) We need leaders who are passionate in developing the country not developing the amount in their Swiss Bank account. We also need leaders who care about the country and not their personal interest, we do not need leaders who stir up things to cause tension among its rakyat. A great leader can lead us to a new height while a silly leader can lead us to our doom.
5.) We need to stop being silly , stop believing in everything we hear without thinking properly. Think and use your common sense when you heard something not so pleasing to the ears. Do not act when you are angry and do not do things blindly when instructed by other people. When your conscience telling you it is not the right thing to then perhaps it is really not the right thing to do.
Anyway can Malaysia be a developed nation by 2020 is something remain unknown by anyone. I am also still waiting for the moment when Malaysia football team qualified for the World Cup.
